Why assign categories to equipment?
Equipment categories provide a structured way to classify your equipment — for example by equipment type, location, or maintenance regime. Categories make it easier to filter and search equipment lists, and you can link to service level definitions and order category restrictions in the service module.
How do I assign a category to a piece of equipment?
- In Handyman Office, go to the Service module (CTRL+F6)
- Select Equipment in the left-hand menu (1)
- Find the equipment you want to categorise (2)
- Click Edit (3)
- In the equipment edit screen, locate the Category field
- Select the correct category from the dropdown
- Click OK to save
The equipment is now assigned to the selected category. It will appear under that category when filtering the equipment list in the Service module.
What if the category I need does not exist?
Equipment categories must be created before you can assign them. See Create categories for equipment for instructions on setting up new categories.
