What does this error mean?
During a Handyman Office upgrade, the installer updates both the application files and the Handyman database schema. If you see red crosses or an error message, it means the database upgrade failed — but the Handyman Office application itself was installed successfully. Only the database schema update needs to be completed.
How do I fix a failed database upgrade?
- Open Handyman ControlCenter on the server
- Navigate to the database upgrade section
- Run the database upgrade manually
- Wait for the upgrade to complete and verify there are no remaining errors
What causes the database upgrade to fail?
Common causes include:
- The SQL Server service was not running during the upgrade
- Insufficient permissions on the database for the upgrade process
- The database is in use by another process and locked
- Network connectivity issues between the application server and SQL Server
If the manual upgrade in ControlCenter also fails, contact GSG Handyman Support with the full error message. See also: Handyman Office upgrade
