Introduction
To select and export service order types, follow the standard procedure outlined in the overview article on exporting basic data. Service order types are only relevant if Service Orders are used in BC.
Relevance for Handyman
- Service order types are imported into Handyman as order categories for Handyman Office.
Configuration in Business Central
The extension allows you to configure the following items from the list of service order types:
- Add missing service item lines to service order: If enabled, service items/equipment added to an order in Handyman will be added to the order in BC. If this setting is disabled and equipment is added to an order in Handyman, and if material or hours & costs are added in Handyman to the order referring to this equipment, the update order procedure in BC will result in an error: "The service line refers to a service item that does not have a corresponding service item line."
- Handyman order type: The drop-down allows you to select one of the Handyman order types.
- Customer signature is required: Enable this if the customer should sign for the order in Handyman Mobile.
Further configuration in Handyman Office
Order categories are a crucial element in the Handyman configuration as they provide a wide range of options. They allow you to configure different scenarios for different order categories. In particular, you can define which checklists should be automatically added to new orders based on the order category. For more information, refer to the article about order categories.
Similarly, the Handyman order type defined in BC can be used in Handyman to automatically assign checklists to orders, along with the equipment/equipment category. For details, see the article explaining how checklists are added automatically to orders in Handyman.
